Butler’s Vance twins making mark in pool; Slippery Rock basketball swept by Gannon: College Roundup

Following home dual meets Friday and Saturday, Butler graduates and Grove City College freshmen swimmers Abigail Vance and Addison Vance each earned Presidents’ Athletic Conference honors.
Abigail was named the PAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week after winning the 100-yard individual medley Friday night against Calvin (62.73 seconds) and sweeping the breaststroke Saturday against Washington & Jefferson.
Addison, who won the same award last week, won the 100 butterfly (60.52) against Calvin and the 200 individual medley against Washington & Jefferson.
Butler graduate Aubrey Rock, now a freshman pole vaulter at Westminster, won that event at Mount Union’s Jim Wuske Collegiate Invitational on Saturday.
Rock cleared 12-2.75 to top the 16-competitor field.
Despite three scorers finishing in the double digits, Slippery Rock University’s men’s basketball team lost 96-65 against No. 7 Gannon at home Saturday.
Dame Givner poured in a team-high 17 points, while Sheick Samoura added 11 and Isaac James 10. Butler graduate Braylon Littlejohn posted four points, four rebounds, three steals and three assists. The Rock falls to 13-8 (6-7 PSAC West).
Slippery Rock University’s women’s hoops team bowed to No. 8 Gannon 72-51 Saturday afternoon, falling to 6-13 on the season (4-9 PSAC West).
Iyanna Wade pinned up a career-best 23 points, while Mairan Haggerty totaled 10.
