Dorothy Helen Brown, 98, of Butler died Wednesday morning at her home with her family at her side.

Born April 8, 1911, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Edith (Eichenlaub) Cousins.

She was a homemaker and a mother, and she previously had worked at the Spaide Shirt Factory in Butler.

Dorothy was a member of the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church in Meridian and enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her family.

Surviving are her children, Edward E. Brown, Nancy Campbell and Bruce Cousins, who she raised as a son, all of Butler; a daughter-in-law, Eunice "Rusty" Brown of Butler; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard G. Brown, whom she married April 6, 1929. He died June 30, 1984. She also was preceded in death by a son, Paul Brown; and a great-granddaughter. She was the oldest and last survivor of 21 children in her family.

<B>Brown </B> Friends of Dorothy Helen Brown, who died Wednesday, April 22, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Meridian. The Rev. James Murphy, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Northside Cemetery, Butler.The Bereavement Committee of St. Fidelis Parish will meet at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home to conduct a parish vigil service.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
