Edward Bryan "Stem" Stemmerich, 51, of Grove City, formerly Eau Claire, died of a heart attack Saturday afternoon at the Shang-Ri-Lai campground, near Pymatuning Lake.

Born Aug. 21, 1956, in Grove City, he was the son of Thomas Edward and Jean Louise Altmire Stemmerich of Eau Claire.

He was a Protestant.

Mr. Stemmerich was a pick-up and delivery truck driver for Ward Trucking for 13 years. He previously worked at Cooper Energy, from his graduation at Moniteau High School in 1974 until a couple years before the company closed.

Mr. Stemmerich was a SP/4 in the Army Reserves and was honorably discharged in 1980.

He was an officer in the Eagles Club in Grove City and the American Legion in Mercer and a member of the Elks, Moose and the Italian club of Greenville and the VFW in Transfer.

Stem was a great supporter of the fire department and sold countless tickets for its sportsmen's nights over the years. For all his service, the Parker City Volunteer Fire Department awarded him a life membership in the fire company.

Surviving are his wife, Carol Sue Lean Stemmerich, who he married Aug. 12, 1986; three children, Katie Stemmerich at home and a student at Slippery Rock University, Thomas John "T.J." and his wife, Amanda, of Parker and Bethany Ann Hindman and her husband, Chris, of Callensburg; two stepchildren, Patrick Hedglin and his wife, Shannon, and Lisa Benedict and her husband, Joshua, all of Grove City; a sister, Stacy Marano and her husband, Larry, of Parker; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

<B>STEMMERICH </B>— Friends of Edward Bryan "Stem" Stemmerich, who died Saturday, April 26, 2008, will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Buzard Funeral Home</B>, Eau Claire. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
