David H. Ratz Sr.

David Harvey Ratz Sr., 82, of West Sunbury passed away Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 16, 1929, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Alan and Agnes (Earlwine) Ratz.

David was a member of the St. Alphonsus Parish in West Sunbury.

He retired as a foreman from the Detroit Switch Corp., North Side, Pittsburgh.

David was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War.

He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Surviving are two daughters, Robin Ratz of Natrona Heights and Joann Mavilla of West Sunbury; a son, David H. Ratz of Renfrew; six grandchildren, Michael, Mathew, Rebekah, Faith, Aaron and Kelly; five great-grandchildren; and close friend, Joyce G. Hall of Butler.

Also preceding him in death were his wife, Margaret Anne Ratz; and an infant brother, Joseph.

<B>RATZ—</B> — Friends of David Harvey Ratz Sr. who died Saturday, June 18, 2011, will be received at <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at the St. Louis Catholic Church, West Sunbury, at 11 a.m. Tuesday with Father James Bedillion officiating.
