Knoch grad Traggiai, Butler grad Vance earn honors: College roundup

Highlights from recent college action:

Butler County products help Grove City at Western Pa. Invite

Freeport graduate and Grove City College swimming freshman Mary Anne Altman was part of the Wolverines’ winning 400-yard freestyle relay at Carnegie Mellon’s unscored Western Pennsylvania Invitational.

Freshman Addison Vance won the 400 individual medley (4:36.77), narrowly beating twin sister and teammate Abigail Vance (4:37.78). Addison Vance also earned the PAC Women’s Swimmer/Diver of the Week award for the showing.

Knoch grad shines on senior day, earns honor

Knoch graduate and Penn State-Altoona senior swimmer Caden Traggiai finished tops in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:23.95) during a tri-meet against Juniata College and Elizabethtown College after being recognized for his contributions to the program.

Traggiai was named the State University of New York Athletic Conference’s Men’s Swimmer of the Week after winning two other events (500 free, 5:01.21; 400 IM, 4:27.51).

SRU hurdler Crow nets accolade

Slippery Rock University senior hurdler Matthew Crow notched an NCAA provisional time of 8.14 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles at the Ashland Invitational, good enough to be the second Division II finisher in the field.

He was named the PSAC Co-Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for his effort.

Butler grad Turner turns in win

Butler graduate and Westminster swimmer Annabelle Turner earned a first-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly (2:30.57) as the Titans netted a tri-meet win over Presidents’ Athletic Conference foe Franciscan.
