Butler County's great daily newspaper

What typically was a spanking back in the day sometimes turned into a lashing of a belt. This is why children and youth services came into existence. Maybe society is operating under a different set of rules, that I can agree with; but there are many people who can effectively parent without having to threaten a child with physical disclipline. For you to assume that it isn't possible is somewhat disturbing because I know people that are awesome parents who do just that. I never said that I have a perfect family, who does and trust me, I know all too well that both parents must work to make ends meet. If a parent models respect and sets rules at a very young age, children are more likely to follow them. Parenting is the major issue here, not teachers. Do you believe that teachers get paid enough to parent your child at school as well as teaching them? I am against any kind of public authority spanking my child. Why should someone else be able to if I don't believe in it myself? You see, we don't all believe in the same sort of disclipline, that is obvious. If we did live in a perfect world and had perfect parents maybe things like children's protective services wouldn't have to exist. I have seen first hand the outcome of abuse and parental rage on children. Teaching our kids violence only encourages it. Have you never seen a child hit or spank their sibling or maybe even another parent's child? Where do you think they were taught it and why do you believe that child may think it's acceptable behavior? Hmmm, I wonder. There are many more resources for parents now days who are having issues with disclipline. There are plenty of churches that now offer youth group ministries who meet several times a week, not just on Sundays for worship. There are several outlets for kids but you can not let them get out of control before you as a parent take control.
