Edward Michael Mulkerin, 91, of Butler, formerly of Slippery Rock, passed away at Sunnyview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, following an extended illness.

He was born in Pittsburgh on Jan. 10, 1935, to Thomas Mulkerin and Catherine Flaherty Mulkerin.

Ed was an accountant by training and was of the Catholic faith. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1957 until 1959. He loved dogs and watching football. He was particularly fond of German shepherds.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Thomas and James.

MULKERIN — The family of Edward Michael Mulkerin, who died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.

There will be a funeral service with military honors for Ed at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the funeral home. The Rev. James Lewis, of Butler, will be presiding.

Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
