Shell plans public meetings to discuss drilling methods

WARRENDALE — Shell is hosting three public meetings in Butler and Lawrence counties to discuss its company, Shell Appalachia.

Kimberly Windon, a Shell Appalachia spokeswoman, said the meetings will concentrate on landowners and Shell lease holders who want to learn more about Shell Appalachia’s Marcellus Shale drilling methods.

“We want people to get an idea of what to expect, how much traffic there will be, those kinds of things,” Windon said.

Company officials will make a short presentation and then concentrate on questions from the public.

The meeting are set:

• Monday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Ellwood City in the Lincoln High School Auditorium

• Wednesday, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Slippery Rock University in the University Union

• Feb. 21, 6 to 8 p.m., at the North Beaver Fire Hall in North Beaver Township.

Shell Appalachia was founded in 2010 when Shell bought East Resources, a Pennsylvania-based oil and gas company. Shell Appalachia, based in Warrendale, Allegheny County, oversees the companies Appalachian Basin projects. For information, contact Cristina Aloe at 724-778 4846.
