Police searching for individual in Oakland Township
Police are searching for an individual in the area of Fared Drive in Oakland Township.
According to a news release from state police, officers are trying to locate an individual who fled on foot following an attempt to make a traffic stop in Butler.
According to the release, police attempted to pull over an individual operating a white Hyundai Elantra with Ohio license plate number U699980 for a traffic violation in the area of North Monroe and East Brady streets when the operator refused to stop and sped off.
Police are searching for a Black man with dreadlocks wearing black pants, a black jacket with white stripes down the arms and a white T-shirt last seen in the area of Davis and East Butler roads in Oakland Township.
The man was last seen on foot and reportedly approached a gas station in the area claiming to have run out of gas.
State police are advising those in the area to keep their vehicles and doors locked.
A Butler Eagle reporter was able to confirm with officers at the scene the search was still underway shortly before 10 p.m.
