Slippery Rock’s RJ Sledge earns PSAC honor; Knoch grade leads PSU-Behrend in win: Roundup
A look around the college landscape this past week, from Slippery Rock to Butler County grads playing at the next level.
Slippery Rock University freshman point guard RJ Sledge helped the Rock to consecutive victories last week, earning the PSAC’s Western Division Defensive Athlete of the Week honor.
Sledge had five steals and played solid on-ball perimeter defense during the victories.
Knoch graduate and Penn State-Behrend senior Madilyn Boyer tallied 17 points as her team downed Mt. Aloysius 76-59 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference action last Saturday.
Butler graduate and Grove City College junior Max Gianneski paced the Wolverines with five digs in a season-opening win over Cairn last Saturday.
Moniteau graduate and Edinboro sophomore backstroke/freestyle swimmer Katelyn Reott had a pair of first-place finishes in the Fighting Scots’ dual-meet victory over Shippensburg.
She also swam on Edinboro’s first-place 200-yard medley relay quartet.
After 33 years with the PSAC, including 29 as the league’s commissioner, Steve Murray will be retiring in June.
“Steve Murray’s years of service to the PSAC have been defined by steady leadership, thoughtful growth, and an unwavering commitment to excellence,” said Shippensburg University president and PSAC board chairman Charles E. Patterson. “Under Steve’s guidance, the conference successfully expanded its membership while continuing to uphold the conference's longstanding tradition of competitive success and academic achievement.
