Butler’s Slaugenhoup, Seneca Valley pair make PA all-state boys volleyball team
The 2026 PIAA boys volleyball season began with many unknowns for Butler County teams.
Two exceptions were a pair of outside hitters — Butler’s Andrew Slaugenhoup and Seneca Valley’s Malachi DeGraaf, who earned second and third team All-WPIAL honors, respectively, as juniors in 2025.
This spring, both players took their play to another level, and on Tuesday were included on the all-state second team as chosen by the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association.
DeGraaf, who was recently named Butler Eagle Boys Volleyball Player of the Year, tallied 260 kills, 195 digs, 21 blocks and a single-season school record 66 aces as the only senior on SV’s roster.
Slaugenhoup was named a Butler Eagle first-teamer. His efforts — 251 kills, 172 digs, 27 blocks, 23 aces — helped Butler reach the WPIAL title game for the first time ever and make its deepest run in the PIAA playoffs, not bowing until the semifinal round.
SV sophomore outside hitter Gavin Gorajewski was named an all-state honorable mention after 257 kills, 39 blocks, 56 digs and 58 aces. He, too, was a Butler Eagle first team pick.
