2012 CHRISTMAS IN MAY

The Butler County Labor Council received requests for three projects for the 2012 Labor Month of Caring.

Labor’s first project was installing a set of steps to enable the congregation of the McKee Chapel, United Methodist Church in Fenelton, PA to park on the lower parking lot and easily travel to the upper level and have access to the chapel. This project was completed by members of Carpenters Local 922, IBEW Local 5 and UAW Local 3303, as well as community volunteer Sam Zurzolo. Yet to be completed is the refurbishing and weatherizing of the entry doors to the main United Methodist Church in Fenelton.

Several members of Bricklayers Local 9 spent many hours over several weekends repointing all of the stonework at the Veterans Memorial Monument located in Lyndora. In collaboration with American Legion Post 778 and under the direction of past member of Laborers Local 323 retired Marine Sergeant Major Zurzolo, members of several local unions are involved in refurbishing the entire monument area. There will be a rededication of the memorial held in July once the volunteer work is completed.

We would also like to acknowledge Lyndora National Bakery for their contribution to this project.
