The year of America’s 250th anniversary has just started, but municipalities across Butler County have been making plans for months to celebrate the country’s sesquicentennial this July.

One of those places is Adams Township, which is hosting a “Celebrating America’s 250th” event July 1 at the township’s community park on Valencia Road. The event will take up more than 9 acres of the community park and will offer food trucks, a block party with a beer garden and a dedicated Kids’ Zone.

“We’ll have games, crafts and activities down at the NexTier Pavilion,” said Brian Perry, the township’s director of parks and recreation. “We’ll have food trucks and food vendors in the adjacent parking lot. We are looking to have bingo in our War Memorial Pavilion. We’ll have some local nonprofit booths, as well as a stage with live music, cornhole, things like that.”

Perry said the township is still working on selecting its live musical acts for the event.

Food truck operators, local nonprofits and potential sponsors looking to take part in the event can sign up through the township’s website, adamstwp.org.
