Edwards powers Butler Twp. to victory

It was quite a day for Josh Edwards.

The Butler Township slugger gave his team a 2-0 lead at the end of the first inning with a two-run homer and then broke open a tight game with a grand slam in the sixth inning in a 9-1 win over Prospect in Butler County American Legion baseball action Saturday.

The run support was plenty for Brian Bell, who cruised through seven innings, surrendering just three hits.

Bill Messer tripled for Prospect.

In other action:

Mike Skurko homered as Mars edged Meridian 7-5.

Ken Carpenter added two doubles in the win.

David Slagle had four hits, including a double, as Karns City outlasted Zelienople 6-4.
