Sam Weir leads North Catholic girls basketball to win; Slippery Rock’s Romanovich drops 33 in loss: Roundup
Tied with Greensburg Central Catholic after three quarters, North Catholic girls basketball earned a 14-8 edge in the final period to post a 54-48 victory at the North Catholic Holiday Tournament.
Sam Weir tallied 21 points and four 3-pointers in the win while teammate Brady Wehner contributed 19 points.
GCC received a combined 42 points from Erica Gribble (27) and Jayla Peterson (15).
Eisenhower 53, Slippery Rock 50 — Madison Romanovich was at it again, this time dropping 33 points with five rebounds and four assists in the Rockets’ loss at the Lakeview Holiday Classic.
Romanovich stands 38 points shy of 1,000 for her career. Gia Kovacik added eight points, nine rebounds and seven assists for Slippery Rock (6-2), which had its six-game winning streak snapped.
Shady Side Academy 49, Seneca Valley 47 — At the Shady Side Academy Holiday Tournament, Reece McFadden scored 19 points for the Raiders (4-5).
Ella Omasits and Natalie Hambly chipped in 10 points apiece in the loss. Hambly sits at 991 career points heading into Tuesday morning’s game against Plum.
Indiana 55, Moniteau 24 — The Warriors dropped this game at the Indiana Holiday Tournament.
Emily Matz paced Moniteau with seven points, nine boards and three assists.
Washington (W.Va.) 52, Mars 47 — Despite a career-high 33 points from Alexis Cashdollar, the Planets fell at the Deep Creek Lake Holiday Tournament in Maryland.
Mars, which trailed 36-26 after three quarters, also received 10 points from Mya Moore.
Redbank Valley 61, Knoch 45 — Neah Ewing scored 22 points for the Knights, but Redbank’s balance was too much for Knoch.
Addy Bond netted 20 points for the Bulldogs, Elaina Carrico dropped 14 and Quinn White had 12.
