Dominant 3rd quarter, Brendin Sankey’s 15 lifts Moniteau boys basketball past Slippery Rock: Roundup

Moniteau boys basketball outscored Slippery Rock 17-3 in the third quarter, sparking the Warriors to a 46-42 victory Monday at the Moniteau Holiday Tournament.

Brendin Sankey’s 15 points led the winning effort, and Dawson Cook netted 12 for Moniteau.

Doug Popovec paced Slippery Rock with 13 points and Luke Caldwell added 10.

North Catholic 80, Gateway 65 — Jason Fredericks and Brandon Pickett both scored 25 points for the Trojans as they topped the Gators at the Gateway Holiday Tournament.

Jude Rottmann added 21 points for North, which iced the game with an 11-0 run in the fourth quarter.

Knoch 56, Woodland Hills 40 — In the Central Valley Roundball Classic at Geneva College, the Knights (8-2) ran their win streak to seven.

A trio from Knoch combined for 40 points — Roman DeFelice (15), Teegan Finucan (13) and Vinnie DeFelice (12).

King’s Academy (Fla.) 62, Mars 60 — Nick Santoro scored 20 points for the Planets (6-4), but the Lions edged Mars in a game played Monday morning in Tampa, Fla.

Austen Wroblewski added 17 points in defeat. Honour Mays sank 28 points for King’s Academy.

Cranberry 61, Freeport 45 — At the Moniteau Holiday Tournament, Gavin Tola scored 11 points to lead the Yellowjackets.

Countryside (Fla.) 42, Seneca Valley 39 — The Raiders (4-5) lost this game at a tournament in Tampa, Fla. No other details were available.

Apollo-Ridge 45, Summit Academy 22 — No other details were available from this game at the Apollo-Ridge Tournament.
