Union finished its football season on the right foot.

Quarterback Matt Gagliano tossed a 22-yard touchdown pass to Zach Traister with four minutes remaining Friday night, giving the Golden Knights a 28-21 victory at Clarion-Limestone.

Both teams were 1-7 entering the game.

Union trailed 21-20 before rallying for the winning points.

"This was quite a game,"Union coach Jeremy Lipps said. "We put together a clutch drive to win it."

The Golden Knights built a 20-0 lead in the first half. Colby Davis scored on a 2-yard run and Trent Switzer scored on a 4-yard run. Davis rushed for 106 yards on the night.

A Clarion-Limestone punt snap sailed over the punter's head and Switzer recovered the ball in the end zone for Union's third touchdown.

Dan Miller scored on a 10-yard run and threw a 70-yard scoring pass to Zac Roller as the Lions scored three touchdowns in the third quarter.

Taylor Smith intercepted two passes for Union. The Golden Knights had three quarterback sacks as well.

Girls Soccer

Slippery Rock 5, Grove City 1 — Sarah Cessar and Elissa McCune scored two goals each, and Danielle Wissinger added a tally for the Rockets in this recent game. Kyra Foley and Jordan Marks shared the win in goal.Allyssa Waryanka scored two goals, and Ali Lotz, Heather Finecy and Michele Grossman had one each as the junior varsity scored a 5-0 win.

Slippery Rock 5, Mercer 0 — Cessar and McCune again had two goals each, with Alex Vuletich adding one. Foley was the goalkeeper.Mallory Ralston and Lotz had two goals each, and Tiffany Rensel adding one in the junior varsity's 5-0 win over Mercer.
