Sara Hogg Rea, 90, of Clintonville, formerly of Cranberry, Venango County, died at 3:20 a.m. Sunday at Orchard Manor in Grove City after a brief illness.

She had lived in Clintonville for the past 30 years.

Born May 11, 1917, in Slippery Rock Township, Butler County, she was the daughter of W. Frederick Hogg and Caroline Renick Hogg.

She married R. Virgil Rea Feb. 14, 1936, who died Oct. 13, 1997.

A devoted housewife and mother, she enjoyed her family and grandchildren along with quilting, crocheting, making afghans and doing needle work. Flower gardens and gardening were joys to Mrs. Rea. She and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the continental United States. While traveling, she enjoyed reading.

She was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church, Clintonville, and formerly a member of the Cranberry Methodist Church. She was active with the Baird Simcox Missionary in her church, was a member of the Clintonville A.A.R.P. and was a member of the Scrubgrass Homemakers at Lisbon.

She graduated from Slippery Rock High School.

She is survived by three sons, Robert J. Rea of Ridgeway, Fred M. Rea and his wife, Ester, of Butler, and David A. Rea and his wife, Christine, of Oil City. Also eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert T. Hogg of Murrieta, Calif., and Albert W. Hogg of Slippery Rock, survive.

She was preceded by five brothers, Arthur D., Clifford E. DeWitt, and Charles and James Hogg.

<B>RAE</B> — Services for Sara Hogg Rea, who died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Larry E. McKinley Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton St., Clintonville. The Rev. Anthony Catullo, pastor of the Union Presbyterian Church, Clintonville, will officiate.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Clintonville Methodist Cemetery.The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to a charity of your choice.
