McKissick

Richard “Doc” McKissick Jr., 65, of Butler, passed away Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025.

He was born in Butler on Aug. 28, 1960, to the late Richard McKissick and Janet (Vic) Weisenstein.

Doc graduated from Butler High School and furthered his education at PTI in electronics. He was employed at Consolidated Communications.

Doc had the largest, most generous heart in the world and was extremely proud of the family he raised. He loved to host big family gatherings and attending his children and grandchildren’s sporting events. Doc enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.

Doc was the beloved husband of Kathryn (Morris) McKissick, whom he married June 12, 1999; father of Michele (Tom) Wells, Sarah (Ken) Kaib and Joseph (Lauren) Wach; brother of Dave and Jim (Carol) Weisenstein, Shawn (Tracy) McKissick, Dan (Joellen) Weiss and Kathy (Jacques) Sevigny; and grandfather of Joel (Kristen) Tebay, Tyler Mellish, Mark Fetters and Riley, Aiden, Joey and Addie Wach.

MCKISSICK — Family and friends of Richard “Doc” McKissick Jr., who died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025, will be received from 1 to 3 and 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, at SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler. A prayer service will immediately follow in the funeral home.
