Moniot

Dorothy Irene Moniot, 95, of Portersville, Worth Township, died at 11:45 a.m. Sunday at the Trinity Living Center, Grove City.

Born May 21, 1915, in Canton, Ohio, she was the daughter of Michael William Gallagher and Clementena Mary (Oswald) Gallagher.

She married Joseph E. “Sid” Moniot, May 23, 1939. He died April 16, 1988.

She was a homemaker and had been a dairy farmer for 32 years.

She was a 1931 graduate of Butler High School and attended the Government Business School.

Mrs. Moniot was a member of the Worth Grange and was a Butler County 4-H leader for eight years.

She was a member of the St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Slippery Rock since the church was founded in 1939, and she also was a charter member of the Christian Mothers of the church.

Surviving are five sons, Daniel E. Moniot and his wife, Peggy, of Glenshaw, Eugene L. Moniot and his wife, Lilli, of Orange Park, Fla., J. David Moniot and his wife Susan, of Mars, Charles V. Moniot and his wife, Colleen, of Madison, Ohio, and Kenneth L. Moniot and his wife, Ann, of Portersville; and two daughters, Marie C. Peterson of Hermitage and Irene M. and her husband, David, James, of Fontana, Calif. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Nora Moniot; three brothers, Charles, Eugene and Kenneth Gallagher; and a sister, Mary Greenwalt.

<B>MONIOT</B> — A Mass of Christian burial for Dorothy Irene Moniot, who died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, will be at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Slippery Rock, Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. with Father Kevin Poecking officiating. Visitation will be at the <B>Smith Funeral Home</B>, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be at the Zion Baptist Cemetery; Worth Township.
