Purchase of nets to close out list of initial Pullman Park purchases
With the purchase of new nets for Historic Pullman Park, the city of Butler has completed the list of major repairs it foresaw for the stadium when it and the Butler Area School District came to a management agreement.
City council voted unanimously Thursday, Dec. 18, to accept a $53,334 quote from CM Eichenlaub Company for the installation of new netting at the park.
“It’s the safety netting that is there to guard the people on the first and third base sides by home plate,” Mayor Bob Dandoy explained.
Dandoy said after the purchase, the list of major problems at the facility has been resolved. However, he indicated there will likely be other expenses in the future.
As of Dec. 18, the city has spent a combined total of nearly $450,000 on repairs and improvements since July 1, the day the management agreement between the city and district went into effect.
Dandoy said the netting is expected to be installed in the spring.
