Pennsylvania American Water begins wastewater main replacement in Alameda Park
Pennsylvania American Water announced the beginning of a multimillion-dollar infrastructure improvement project in Alameda Park aiming to strengthen wastewater service and advance watershed protection efforts.
According to a release from the company, the project will replace about 3,700 feet of aging wastewater main with a larger, more reliable line to improve sewage flow and reduce stormwater infiltration. Upgrades include 20 new maintenance holes and a specialized bore under Route 422 to install the new line without disturbing the highway.
The company said construction will occur in lower Alameda Park, which will be closed to vehicle traffic during work. Major construction is expected to finish by spring, with full completion scheduled for June 2026.
The project is part of a $75 million investment across five years to upgrade the BASA wastewater treatment and collection systems, the company said.
