PORTERSVILLE — Adams Manufacturing, a supplier of residential and commercial outdoor resin furniture and accessories, announced that it is the first recipient of the National Hardware Show All-American Award for Best Marketing.

The National Hardware Show is the world's premier event for the home improvement marketplace.

The award ceremony took place May 8 at the National Hardware Show in Las Vegas, Nev.

Adams Manufacturing used the event to promote its newest high-dining line, which included both counter and bar-height barstools along with two café-inspired bistro tables.

As a means of generating pre-show buzz, the company used a wide range of marketing tactics, including targeted e-mail blasts, custom invitations and advertising. During the show, Adams hired two historical celebrity impersonators, Uncle Sam and President Abraham Lincoln.

PENN TWP — MyGate Software in East Butler had its annual meeting Tuesday at the Butler County Airport.Bernard T. Smith, president and CEO, flew in on a private jet to have the meeting at the Runway Restaurant.The private meeting was attended by company employees and financial advisers, and Smith discussed new ventures for 2013, including optimizing cloud technology and mobile apps.MyGate Software specializes in inventory control and logistics for customers worldwide.

Knoch High School graduate Eric Farmer, 24, was named Substitute Teacher of the Year for Pennsylvania by Michigan-based Kelly Educational Staffing.The firm employs nearly 1,500 substitute teachers in 20 Pennsylvania school districts.Farmer, a 2007 Knoch graduate, was honored with a $100 award. He has worked for the Pine-Richland School District in Allegheny County since 2012.Farmer is the son of William Farmer of Saxonburg and Kimberly Strobel of Penn Township.
