Butler County's great daily newspaper

County payroll

From what I have read over the past several months, Butler, PA is turning into Bell, CA. Our Commissioners make significantly higher salaries than surrounding counties, people getting 20% raises when most of the country is taking pay cuts. Who gets a 20% raise? Normal employees get 2% and feel lucky! If that employee felt underpaid, she should have applied elsewhere. There are hundreds of recent college grads who could fill her position at $29/hr.

In the history of the county, have we ever paid a commissioner a lifetime pension? Now all of a sudden pensions are going to be paid? What is going on?

We democratically elected a new commissioner who is trying to bring these things to light and appears to get nothing but criticism. I am thankful that he is speaking out, else we wouldn't even be aware of these things.

Why doesn't the Butler Eagle go to the meetings and report on a commissioner voting himself a lifetime pension? That little tidbit should have been a headline. Why does the Eagle appear to be criticizing the new commissioner for doing what the others should have been doing all along?

I call for the Butler Eagle to do some investigative reporting for once and answer these questions.
