Dawn L. Scheidemantle, 92, of Butler, formerly of Harmony, died early Sunday morning Dec. 14, 2025, at Under Our Wings in Butler.

Dawn was born July 22, 1933, in Portersville, and was the daughter of Robert and Albertina Newton Neiper.

Dawn was a housewife and also at one time worked in the cafeteria at Moraine Elementary in Prospect. She was a faithful member of the Portersville Presbyterian Church. She loved cooking, baking and canning. She also loved being considered the Portersville community historian.

Survivors include one son, Terry (Cathy) Scheidemantle, of Harmony; three daughters, Dianne Frampton, of New Castle, Debbie (Dave) Brooker, of Georgia, and Carla (Doug) Hoyman, of Ellwood City; also seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her husband, Carl Oliver Scheidemantle; nine sisters; one brother; and one grandson, Scott Scheidemantle.

SCHEIDEMANTLE — Visitation for Dawn L. Scheidemantle, who died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025, will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at JAY BRYAN FUNERAL HOME, 443 Main St., Prospect. A funeral service will follow at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Dana Opp, of Portersville Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Entombment will take place on Monday at the Greenlawn Burial Estates and Mausoleum in Butler.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
