Werth

William P. Werth, 66, of Hermitage died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Farrell after a monthlong illness.

Born March 26, 1942, in Butler, he was a son of Richard P. and Gertrude Gibson Werth.

Bill attended St. Paul Catholic School and St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, where he was an altar boy.

He graduated from Butler High School in 1960 and was a self-employed cross country trucker. He and his wife, Melissa, also co-owned their own business as dispatchers for Coleman Trucking in Sharon. He enjoyed the camaraderie of his fellow professional drivers and was well known over many states.

Bill loved auto racing at any level and was said to have oil in his veins. While working through high school at Sam's Esso Station on Brady Street, he developed his lifelong love of cars and trucks of all sizes. Bill loved to build and race cars.

Surviving are his loving wife of 22 years, Melissa Ayers Werth of Hermitage; sons, Brett and Todd Werth; a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Cindy) Cooney and two grandchildren, all of New Jersey; and stepchildren, Shonda and Sam Urmson, and grandson, Jake, of Niles, Ohio.

Bill also was loved and will be missed by his parents of Butler; and his brothers and sisters, James and Judy Werth of Lake Mary, Fla., Robert and Rita Werth of Las Vegas, Nev., John and Mary Kay Werth of Amherst, Ohio, Thomas and Debbie Werth of Butler, Carol and Michael Greenberg of Merced, Calif., and Joyce Werth of Modesto, Calif.

Bill was a fun-loving uncle who will be missed very much by his numerous nieces and nephews.

<B>WERTH </B>— Friends of William P. Werth, who died Saturday, May 10, 2008, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
