Police: Man assaulted in Cranberry Township apartment
A Cranberry Township man reportedly assaulted a man in a Norberry Court apartment, police said.
Everton Modesto da Silva, 37, was charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor simple assault following a Sunday, Dec. 7 incident.
Police said they were dispatched to the UPMC Passavant emergency room and spoke with a man who claimed he had been assaulted. The man told police he awoke to knocking at the front door of the apartment. He said Modesto da Silva entered the residence through the back door moments later.
Police said Modesto da Silva immediately attacked the man. The man was shoved to the ground onto broken glass, struck and shoved again. The man told police Modesto da Silva then picked up a piece of broken glass, which led the assaulted man to flee the residence, fearing he would be stabbed.
Police said the man had a laceration on his right hand and scrapes on both knees.
Police then responded to the residence and took Modesto da Silva into custody.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Dec. 19 before District Judge Kevin Flaherty. He’s being held in Butler County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bail.
