New tax collector to be appointed by early January

BUFFALO TWP — Robyn Fleischman, who was elected the township’s tax collector last month, has resigned before she could take her position.

The resignation was announced at a supervisors meeting Wednesday night, Dec. 11.

Township manager Rich Hill said the resignation is for medical reasons and declined to elaborate, saying it was a “private matter.”

Hill said the township hopes to appoint a new tax collector by the time of its reorganization meeting Jan. 5. The appointee will serve a two-year term.

“We’re going to advertise on our site that the position’s available, and we’re going to ask for letters of interest,” Hill said.

Fleischman ran unopposed in the tax collector race last month. The position is being filled temporarily by Linda Halstead, who also serves as tax collector for Clinton Township.
