Road rage incident in Cranberry Township leads to more than $2K in damages, police say

Cranberry police

A road rage incident at the Cranberry Mall led to more than $2,000 in damages to a woman’s car, police said.

James Alan McKinney, 62, of Sewickley, was charged Monday, Dec. 8, with misdemeanor criminal mischief following the Sept. 20 incident.

Police said a woman was attempting to pull her Ford F-150 into a parking space as McKinney was leaving the parking space to her right.

Police said McKinney, who was driving a Chevrolet Silverado, was unable to complete his turn out of the parking space because of the Ford’s position and began yelling at the woman from inside his vehicle.

Police said McKinney then exited his vehicle and approached the woman’s vehicle. According to the affidavit, McKinney punched the Ford’s driver-side mirror, causing damage to the mirror and the driver’s side window.

Police said the woman got an estimate for repairs of $2,444.91 from a repair shop in Zelienople.

McKinney’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Jan. 9 before District Judge Kevin Flaherty.
