Pair of shoplifters steal $1,400 worth of dental products
BUTLER TWP — Police are seeking a suspected shoplifting duo that stole $1,400 worth of dental products from the same drugstore in two thefts this month.
The same pair could be responsible for similar crimes in the Pittsburgh area, investigators said.
“We have some people we’re looking at,” Butler Township Police Chief John Hays said this morning when asked if his department has any suspects. He would not elaborate.
Police said the shoplifters, both white men, twice struck the Walgreens on New Castle Road — at 1:36 p.m. April 6 and at 2:25 p.m. April 14.
The men appeared to target dental products, investigators said, especially teeth whitening strips and Waterpiks.
“We believe they were working together,” Hays said, again declining further comment.
The store’s video surveillance system captured quality images of the thieves.
One suspect is about 25 years old, 6 feet tall with a medium build, black hair and a goatee. In both crimes, police said, he wore a black hooded sweat shirt with a Bud Light emblem.
The other man is in his 30s and heavier than his suspected accomplice. He has brown hair and wore black compression sleeves on both arms, possibly to hide tattoos.
Police think the two drove away in a blue vehicle, possibly a Toyota.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-285-9600.
Investigators believe the same suspects are connected to other similar thefts at Walgreens stores in suburban Pittsburgh.
Butler Township police are sharing information about the local cases with two other police departments, who Hays would not identify.
