Olga McKernan
Olga F. (Hafenrichter) McKernan, 76, of Saxonburg, completed her life’s journey on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025, reuniting with Larry, her beloved husband of 55 years.
Olga’s story began in Germany, where she was born on May 28, 1949. She immigrated to the United States in 1956, marking the start of a life characterized by resilience and reinvention. Her career path was as varied as her interests. She connected people as a Bell Telephone operator, helped families find their homes as a Realtor for Northwood Realty and comforted the sick as a registered nurse. In every role, her dedication shone through.
To the world, she was Olga, but to the people she loved most — her family — she was simply “Golga.” She was the heart of the family, a gifted storyteller who could weave magic with words and a talented artist who captured the world through her sketches. She had a green thumb, cultivating a beautiful flower “fairy” garden that reflected the beauty she brought into the world. An avid reader, she instilled a love of stories in those around her.
Her legacy lives on through her children, Molly G. (Timothy) Callwood, Kevin G. (Jennifer) McKernan and John L. (Megan) McKernan Jr. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Gabriel (Maria), Keavy, Gracie, J.T., Eion and Owen; as well as the newest generation, her great-granddaughter, Aurora.
