Benjamin Rivers

Rivers

Benjamin D. “Big Ben” Rivers left this earthly world on Monday, Nov. 17, 2025, to take his place beside his savior, whom he served all his life.

Ben had accepted Jesus as his savior when he was 13 years old in December 1989. Ben was a bicentennial baby, born Feb. 9, 1976, and was the son to the late Diane S. (Muir) Rivers and David R. Rivers. Ben was the husband of Carrie (Thompson) Rivers for 18 years.

Ben graduated from Butler High School in 1995. He went on to graduate from Northwestern Trade School in Lima, Ohio, in 1997, where he studied diesel mechanics. Ben worked for Butler Color Press in Butler and Traco Window in Cranberry. After obtaining his CDL, Ben drove over road trucks for USA Truck as well as Prime and Knight Trucking during the next 15 years. Ben decided to get off the road and, after a brief stint at a pallet repair shop, he found the job he was meant for at Tyson Foods as pollution control officer.

Ben and his wife, Carrie, recently moved to their dream home and were able to travel and enjoy retirement until he had to go to hospice.

Ben is survived by his wife, Carrie Rivers, of Garfield, Ark.; father, David Rivers, and his wife, Sharon, of Marienville; brother, Jason Rivers, of Butler; his son, Skyler Plunkard, of Herman; brothers-in-law, George Thompson (Donna) and Ed Thompson; sister-in-law, Betsy Schooler (George Robin); stepson, Albert Thompson; stepdaughter, Annell Roley; and several nieces and nephews.
