Man jailed in stabbing
Butler police arrested a city man for allegedly cutting another man with a knife during an argument Friday evening at a home on Miller Avenue. The victim suffered a cut on his forehead.
Charles D. Franchini, 29, is charged with felony counts of aggravated assault and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is in the Butler County Prison in lieu of $15,000 bond.
Police said they spoke to the 63-year-old victim after he called 911 to report being cut with a knife at his home. Officers spoke to him outside his house, where he told them that he had been letting the defendant stay.The victim recounted that he and Franchini had been arguing when the defendant swung a knife at him and cut him. Police said it appeared the victim had a “small cut” on his forehead, which had minimal blood coming from it. He refused medical treatment.Police said the victim described the knife as having a silver blade and brown handle. Officers reportedly found several knives at the home, but none that matched the description given by the victim.Officers spoke to Franchini at the home, police said, but he told them he did not know why they were there, according to charging documents. He denied having an argument with the victim or swinging a knife at him.District Judge Wayne Seibel later that night arraigned him on the charges.
