Slippery Rock football offers North Catholic’s Preston Simko, Tom Arth; Pitt wants Mars’ Sean Franklin

North Catholic seniors Preston Simko and Tommy Arth wrote Tuesday night on X they’ve received offers to play for Shawn Lutz at nearby Slippery Rock University.

Simko, a Fenelton native, finished this season with 39 receptions for 1,020 yards and 18 touchdowns. He led the WPIAL during the regular season in touchdown grabs. SRU’s offer marks his first.

Arth, who resides in Mars and is Pittsburgh Steelers quarterbacks coach Tom Arth’s son, had 33 catches for 412 yards and six touchdowns as a tight end/H-back. He was also a major contributor on the Trojans’ defense, setting the edge as an outside linebacker.

Franklin given opportunity to play at Pitt

Mars offensive tackle Sean Franklin received a preferred walk-on offer from Pitt last week. Franklin was a three-year starter for the Planets, who made the WPIAL Class 4A playoffs each year he was on the field.
