Anna M. Chovanes
Anna M. Chovanes, 83, of Leechburg died Saturday at the Alle-Kiski Medical Center, Natrona Heights.
Born Nov. 29, 1923, in Charleroi, she was the daughter of George Mraz and Anna Goda.
She had worked at PPG Industries in Ford City, Beighley's Market in Vandergrift and Chovanes Grocery in Leechburg.
Mrs. Chovanes was a member of the Christ the King Church, formerly St. Martha Church, Leechburg. She also belonged to the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.
She enjoyed listening to classical music and spending time with her family.
Surviving are two sons, John S. Chovanes and his wife, Eileen, of Fenelton and Stephen J. Chovanes and his companion, Bonnie Butler, of Allegheny Township; two daughters, Kathleen Uncapher and her husband, Andrew Uncapher Jr., of New Kensington and Michele De Cenzo and her husband, Anthony, De Cenzo of Ambridge; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Gwinn, Stephen Steffan and John T. and David J. Chovanes; and a stepgrandson, Eric McLafferty.
Her husband, Stephen T. Chovanes, whom she married May 5, 1945, died May 22, 2007. She also was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Andrew, Michael and George Mraz; and a sister, Mary Torres.
<B>CHOVANES </B>— Friends of Anna M. Chovanes, who died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at <B>Clawson's Funeral Home</B>, 170 Main St., Leechburg. A vigil for the deceased will be at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.Prayers for the Transfer of the Body will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church with the Rev. Leo Rothrauff O.S.B., officiating.Burial will be at St. Catherine Cemetery, Gilpin Township.Arrangements were handled by her niece, Mary Ann Badura, funeral director of <B>Faykosh Funeral Home</B>, Ford City.
