Rock edges Bloomsburg

Ed Mocarsky converted an assist from David Flamer in the 75th minute of action Wednesday, handing Slippery Rock University a 2-1 men's soccer victory at Bloomsburg.

The game marked the opener of The Rock's PSAC season. SRU dropped a 2-1 decision at Wheeling Jesuit last weekend to start the overall campaign.

Justin Hollm scored SRU's first goal Wednesday, converting an assist from Nick Christy in the 11th minute of play.

Sophomore goalie Pat Passewitz recorded four saves for SRU as Bloomsburg slipped to 0-2 on the year.

The Rock hosts East Stroudsburg at noon Saturday.

Butler County Community College picked up victories against host Westmoreland County Community college and Pitt-Titusville Wednesday.In a 30-12, 30-11 win over Westmoreland, Krista Ebner had nine kills, Autumn Burke added seven kills, Brittany Beatty 19 assists and Jasmin Mehelich eight digs for the Pioneers.Burke had six kills and seven aces, Ebner six kills and Beatty 14 assists in a 30-16, 30-8 sweep over Titusville.BC3 (6-1, 2-0) will host the Community College of Beaver County at 6 p.m. Friday.
