Hugh A. Murrin
Hugh A. Murrin, 92, of Shippenville died Friday at the Golden Living Center in Shippenville.
Born Nov. 28, 1916, in Murrinsville, he was the son of Paul and Blanche Wilson Murrin.
Mr. Murrin graduated from Concord Township High School as valedictorian of the Class of 1935.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving as a combat engineer during World War II, and was involved in the liberation of the Philippines.
He was of the Catholic faith.
He was a self-employed building contractor.
He was a charter member of the Paul W. Wood Post 7840 of Hilliards and a former member of the Shippenville-Elk Volunteer Fire Company and the Shippenville Water Authority.
Survivors include two stepsons, John Bailey and his wife, Marlene, of Sherman, Texas; and James Bailey and his wife, Pam, of Mercer; one stepdaughter, Kathy Bailey of Shippenville; one brother, Don Murrin of North Washington; two sisters, Margaret Moser of Ducanville, Texas, and Rose Mary Murrin of Butler; three step-granddaughters, Martina, Tracy and Cassie; three step-grandsons, Joe, Mike and Jeff; four step-great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Maelyn, Hanna and Christopher; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Albert; and a stepson, William Bailey.
<B>MURRIN </B>— Friends of Hugh A. Murrin, who died Friday, May 8, 2009, will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the <B>William N. Rupert Mortuary</B> in Knox. A blessing service will be held at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Father James Bedillion will conduct the service. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. The Rev. Chris Lewis will officiate. A service with full military honors will be held at the funeral home immediately following the funeral service.
