David J. McCune Jr.

David J. McCune Jr., 70, of Cropps Corners Road, Knox, died at 9:57 p.m. Friday at the Good Samaritan Hospice unit in Cabot.

Born April 26, 1938, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late David J. McCune Sr. and Jeanette Marshall McCune.

Mr. McCune retired from Bell Telephone after 35 years.

He was a member of the Mount Joy United Methodist Church, Knox, where he served as a trustee. He belonged to the Edenburg Lodge 550 F&AM and the Coudersport Consistory. He was a life member of the NRA and belonged to the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors.

He was a former assistant fire chief of the Penn Volunteer Fire Department.

Dave was an auctioneer and loved antiques. He enjoyed the Masonic Lodge and Consistory, vacationing at Myrtle Beach and being outdoors.

He was a loving father and grandfather.

He is survived by a daughter, Shawn Acosta of Cherry Hill, N.J.; a son, David J. McCune III and his wife, Lauren, of Slippery Rock; six grandchildren, David J. McCune IV, Elissa McCune, Megan McCune, Jamison Acosta, Chelsea Acosta and Tristen Acosta; and his companion, Beverly Kriebel, whom he loved and adored.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

<B>McCUNE </B>— The family of David J. McCune Jr., who died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>David C. McEntire Funeral Home</B>, 504 E. Penn St., Knox, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Mount Joy United Methodist Church, 159 Mount Joy Road, Knox. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with the Rev. Dan Myers, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.Members of Edenburg Lodge 550 F&AM will hold a memorial service for their departed brother, David J. McCune Jr., at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
