Cranberry supervisors take next step on 2025 Project of the Year

Cranberry Township DME

Cranberry Township supervisors during a meeting Thursday, Nov. 6, unanimously approved the next step in making the Cranberry Foundation’s 2025 Project of the Year a reality.

Supervisors authorized a $175,000 purchase of fitness equipment from National Fitness Campaign for the project, which will bring a modernized fitness court to Graham Park.

As part of an agreement between the township and the Cranberry Foundation, the township will handle the purchase and construction, with the foundation reimbursing any associated costs.

The fitness court, which will be a first of its kind in Butler County, will provide residents with a new space for outdoor exercise and recreation as part of the township’s continued investment in community wellness and public spaces.

The equipment purchase, however, is only a portion of the total costs associated with the project. According to township manager Dan Santoro, the court will require an estimated $350,000 to $400,000 to complete.

“There’s still construction that needs to happen,” he said. “We need to pour the concrete pad and hire someone to install it and complete other related work.”

He added that officials are in the final design stages and should be prepared to move forward with construction by the time the equipment arrives.

“We’ll bid it all out, and hopefully, we’re constructing in the spring of next year,” Santoro said.

In May, township officials held a grand opening for the Armstrong Great Lawn at the municipal center, which served as the 2023-24 Project of the Year.
