Eleanor Johnson Master of Turkey City, Richland Township, Clarion County, passed away Wednesday of natural causes at Parker Personal Care, Parker.

Mrs. Master was born Sept. 22, 1924, in Johnstown, and was raised in Kittanning. She was the daughter of David and Esther Johnson.

During her youth, Mrs. Master was an avid athlete, enjoying skiing, swimming and softball.

A graduate of Kittanning High School, Mrs. Master attended Slippery Rock University and later enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served during World War II.

She was married to Harold Eugene Master on Nov. 25, 1948, in Kittanning. He preceded her in death March 23, 2010.

Mrs. Master was a longtime member of the Order of Eastern Star and worshipped at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg, Clarion County.

She was a devoted follower of Western Pennsylvania sports, including high school, college and professional teams. Mrs. Master was the proud owner of an original “Terrible Towel.” She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles.

Mrs. Master was a homemaker. For several years, she was a poll worker for Richland Township.

Mrs. Master is survived by a son, Edward L. Master and his wife, Eileen, of Grove City; two daughters, Shari L. McCall and her husband, Larry, of Eau Claire and Cynthia L. Cullen and Brad Rapp of Emlenton. She was the proud grandmother of Stephanie McCall, Brady Cullen and Rachel Cullen.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jack David Master; and brothers, Harry, Edward, and David Johnson.

<B>MASTER</B> — Friends of Eleanor Johnson Master, who died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, will be received at the <B>Hile Funeral Home</B>, 802 Grove St., St. Petersburg, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Deborah Jacobson, pastor of the St. Peter Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment, with military honors accorded by the Foxburg American Legion Post 636 and the Parker VFW Post 7073, will follow in Monroe Cemetery.The family requests contributions in Mrs. Master's memory be made to the Boys and Girls Club Along the Allegheny, Box 2, Emlenton, PA 16373.Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.hilefh.com.
