Carl G. Gravatt

Carl G. Gravatt, 60, a 28-year resident of 1833 Plain Grove Road in Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County, died of an apparent heart attack at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday in Taylor Township, Lawrence County, while working on the railroad.

Born in Grove City, July 23, 1947, he was the son of the late Charles J. Gravatt and Sara Brown.

He was employed by CSX Transportation, New Castle, where he was been a heavy equipment operator since 1972.

Mr. Gravatt was a Protestant.

He was a 1966 graduate of Grove City High School and a Vietnam era Army veteran.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Lynn Coyer Gravatt, who he married May 4, 1968; a son, Carl J. Gravatt and his wife, Bobbi Jo, of Mercer; two grandchildren, Addalinn Jennings Gravatt and Austin Julian Gravatt, both of Mercer; one sister, Debora J. McCurdy and her husband, John, of Jackson Center; and one brother, A. Glenn Gravatt of Jackson Centre, Pa.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rebecca Gravatt and Nancy Thompson; and two brothers, James J. and Charles V. Gravatt.

<B>GRAVATT</B> — Friends of Carl G. Gravatt, who died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>Cunningham Funeral Home</B>, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. August Hurst, associate pastor of Bethany Presbyterian Church of Mercer, officiating. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Plain Grove Township, Lawrence County.
