TOP 10 REASONS TO PICK SEATTLE

Here are the top 10 reasons why the Seahawks will win the Super Bowl.

10.

Seeding. Never has a No. 6 seed reached the Super Bowl — until now. The last bottom seed to advance to the Super Bowl in one conference to face the No. 1 seed in the other was the 1985 New England Patriots. The Pats were trounced by the Chicago Bears 46-10.9.

The Seahawks are battle tested. Despite reaching the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history, Seattle has been tested in the playoffs in recent years, losing to Green Bay in overtime in 2003 and to the Rams last season on the final play of the game.8.

Road magic is over. The Steelers have made a habit of winning on the road. Because of the geography, Detroit's Ford Field will be very Steeler-friendly. No more road magic for the Steelers.7.

Mike Holmgren.Sure, no coach has taken two teams to the Super Bowl and won a championship with each, so Holmgren is due to become the first.6.

Super Bowl experience. The Steelers have only one player who has been to the big game: cornerback Willie Williams, who played in Super Bowl XXX with the Black and Gold. Seattle has five players who have recently played in the Super Bowl: Joe Jurevicius, Grant Winstrom (twice), Chuck Darby, Tom Rouen and Robbie Tobeck.5.

First-year Super Bowl teams have had recent success. Baltimore and Tampa Bay have won championships in their first year in the big game in the last five seasons.4.

MVP power. The last two running backs to win the NFL Most Valuable Player Award and play in the Super Bowl the same season (Terrell Davis and Emmitt Smith) won championship. Shaun Alexander won the MVP award for the Seahawks this season.3.

Respect. Seattle is getting none — the same driving force that helped the Steelers win three road games to get to Detroit in the first place.2.

Ben Roethlisberger. The only quarterback younger to start a Super Bowl game was Dan Marino with the Dolphins in Super Bowl XIX. Marino lost to the 49ers 38-16.1.

Embarrassment. If Seattle, the No. 1 seed, loses to Pittsburgh, the No. 6 seed, it will never live it down. No one on the Seahawks wants that kind of specter haunting them in the future.
