Dearest Nick,

It's been another three hundred sixty five days since we've got to see, hear or touch you. As each day, month and year passes the hole in our hearts is just as big as it was four years ago. The void in our lives is still felt DAILY. A house that should be filled with activities of a seventeen year old junior in high school is very lonely. That loneliness turns to sadness when we think of the fun you'd have working on cars, playing pool or riding go-carts with your brother. We know you'd always be teasing your sister-in-law. Oh, the fun you'd have with your nephew: building Lego garages for all "Uncle Nick's" cars, watching him ride his four wheeler, chasing after him in his new Jeff Gordon car and I know you'd be better at teaching him to play soccer than I am. I know your sister misses all the talks you two used to have and you'd be her personal handy-man now.

As your parents, we should be going to your sporting events and other school activities. We should be praying for your safety when you are out driving or with friends. The fact that you are now ALWAYS safe, happy and healthy is what gives us the strength and courage to face each new day.

The hope and promise of joining you again someday in your paradise is what will get us all through the next day, month and year.
