College sports roundup: Slippery Rock grad Anna Igims named finalist for Woman of the Year
Slippery Rock track and field/cross country graduate Anna Igims (2024) has been named one of 30 finalists for the 2025 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
The honor is given to female student-athletes who have completed undergrad — Igims was a graduate student in 2024-25 for The Rock — and “distinguished themselves in their community, in athletics and in academics,” an SRU press release said. Ten female athletes from all three NCAA divisions make the top 30.
Igims had a 3.98 GPA as a school wellness education major, 4.0 during her graduate year, and has earned multiple scholar-athlete and academic honors. On the track and in cross country, she won seven PSAC titles and helped SRU to team championships in cross country, indoor and outdoor track.
Libby Zacharyasz scored in the 53rd minute to give The Rock a 1-0 win over IUP on Wednesday. SRU improves to 9-3-0 (9-1-0 PSAC West).
SRU played to a scoreless tie with PSAC foe Lock Haven on Wednesday. The Rock are 6-5-2 (3-2-1 PSAC). Alvey Kaufman had three saves.
Slippery Rock fell to Shippensburg 3-0, dropping to 5-9 (1-6 PSAC).
