SRU men's soccer blanks Lake Erie

SLIPPERY ROCK — Chris Davis scored two goals and assisted on a third Tuesday night as the Slippery Rock University men’s soccer team shut out Lake Erie, 3-0, at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

SRU’s four seniors — Clayton Master, Butler graduates Drew Donoghue and Blake McChesney, and Slippery Rock High graduate Michael Ramirez — were honored in a pregame ceremony as The Rock closed its 2012 home schedule.

Thad Madzelonka scored the other Rock goal. Master made three saves to earn his career-best sixth shutout of the season.

SRU (7-3-5) plays its final three regular season games on the road, including Saturday at West Virginia Wesleyan.

Lake Erie slipped to 4-10 on the year.

VolleyballThe Rock (13-11, 6-5) dropped its third straight match Tuesday night, falling to Emory 25-22, 19-25, 25-11. Emory improved to 25-4 on the year.Sarah Cadwallader paced SRU with 13 kills. Janna Reilly finished with 26 assists. Hannah McShea had 10 digs.SRU hosts Edinboro at 7 p.m. Friday and Gannon at 2 p.m. Saturday.
