College sports roundup: BC3 volleyball wins 16th straight and 15th by shutout
Butler County Community College women’s volleyball has won 15 of its 16 games so far this season by sweep, doing so again Wednesday 3-0 over Penn State-Shenango.
Set scores were 25-18, 25-21, 25-17 as the No. 5 Pioneers improved to 16-0 ahead of a Saturday tournament. Josie Russo and Dakota Weldon had nine kills each from Anora Robare, who finished with 27 assists. Sarah Lucas added nine digs.
Marissa Salisbury scored twice to lead Slippery Rock to a 3-0 win at Seton Hill on Wednesday. SRU is now 6-3-0 (6-1-0 PSAC West). Lindsey Price scored the final goal.
Karns City alumna Emma Dailey scored the final goal and Slippery Rock High grad Hannah Plunkard had an assist in Grove City’s 4-0 win Wednesday over Hiram. The Wolverines improved to 5-4-2 (4-0-1 PAC).
Alvey Kaufman tied his career high with four saves, but SRU was blanked 4-0 by Gannon. The Rock fell to 3-5-1 (1-2-0 PSAC West).
Slippery Rock blanked Roberts Wesleyan 3-0 on Wednesday to improve to 4-6 on the year. Grace Williams scored twice, giving her two goals this season, and Maddie Orrson scored her second of 2025.
Despite 11 kills and two blocks from Callie Chevalier, SRU fell in straight sets to Edinboro 3-0 (set scores: 28-26, 25-15, 28-26). The Rock slide to 9-8 (2-2 PSAC West).
