Police: Florida man threatens woman with CO2 pistol
A Florida man is accused of threatening a woman with a CO2 pistol in Prospect, police said.
Charles Edward Hartmann Jr., 30, of Branden, Fla., was charged Wednesday, Oct. 1, with one felony count each of aggravated assault, strangulation and flight to avoid apprehension, and one misdemeanor count each of simple assault and reckless endangerment following an Oct. 1 incident.
Prospect police said they were dispatched to a residence for reports of a woman being threatened with a CO2 pistol. Police were also notified by dispatch there was a handgun in the residence.
Police arrived and spoke with Hartmann and a woman. Police said Hartmann denied knowing where the CO2 pistol was when questioned. Police said the woman had bruises on her neck and back, and Hartmann at one point held the CO2 pistol to her face.
While an officer searched for the CO2 pistol, Hartmann was reportedly seen running outside a window. The officer then exited the home and found Hartmann on the ground with another officer standing nearby.
Police said Hartmann had tripped over a log while running and fell.
After detaining Hartmann, police asked again where the CO2 gun was. Hartmann told police the location of the gun, and it was retrieved.
Hartmann’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Oct. 8 before District Judge Joseph Nash.
