East Brady Area Development to host meeting

It's set for 7 p.m. Wednesday

EAST BRADY — Hoping to generate interest in community involvement, the East Brady Area Development Corp. will host a town meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Arnold Beabout Community Center.

Toni Henry, a board member with the group, said it has been in existence since 1954, but has been dormant in recent years.

“Our primary goal is revitalization,” she said.

Helping businesses, organizing volunteers for community projects and “sprucing up” the downtown area are all long-term goals.

The forum on Wednesday specifically will cover website development, the group’s financial status, development of goals, the potential Trail Town program and other issues.

“It’s kind of a kick off meeting that will introduce the new board of directors,” Henry added.

Anyone can attend — property owners, permanent and seasonal residents and business owners.

Henry said the group plans to revise its goals and priorities based on what people say.

“The East Brady Area Development Corporation is in the process of re-establishing itself as a viable player in the direction East Brady heads into the future,” said Dawn Weibel, president of the group, in a statement.

“Our area has a lot to offer, and we want to be proactive in ensuring a quality of life for our residents, and enjoyment of our amenities for our visitors.”

In addition to Weibel and Henry, the board includes Melissa Gottschalk, Marilyn Wilson, Gayle Wright, John Klein and Gordon Cogley.

People also will be invited to become members of the group. Annual membership costs are $10 for individuals and $25 for businesses.

The Arnold Beabout Community Center is at 502 Ferry St., East Brady.
