Charity 5K races start 2nd season
The second annual 2010 Quality Life Cup Series of 5K charity races begins this month.
The events raise money for the Dream A Little Dream program, which fulfills the wishes of nursing home residents, benefits from each $12 pre-event entry fee. That fee entitles walkers and runners to a T-shirt and cookout buffet at the finish line.
The 5K events will be each month this summer at Quality Life locations in Butler, Armstrong, Mercer, and Venango counties, starting May 25 at the Trinity Living Center in Grove City.
Walkers are eligible for prizes, and all who complete a 5K for the first time will receive a ribbon. Runners tally points toward an overall series championship.
The Quality Life Cup Series will crown a male and a female champion at the series finale in October, using each entrant's five best times.
Cash and trophies for runners will be awarded at each event.
In total, 10 trophies, 14 medals and $800 in cash will be distributed at each of the six races.
