Jake & Eric V.

Jake,

Thank you for the compliment. They try to be well behaved, but they sure aren't angels! LOL!

As far as what a teacher should do. I can honestly say I'm not exactly sure. I know that when I was in kindergarten I was talking to much in class. ( I think I just wanted to hear myself haha). My teacher put me in the hall with my nose against the wall. I never talked without asking permission since. I was embarrassed, cause when she put me in the hall my classmates laughed at me. That could be a first step. Another is maybe taking recess from them. and making them sit at the desk, and write what they did wrong the whole recess time. Plus a phone call to the parent. If worse comes to worse then to the principal they go. Maybe then the principal could give them after school detention. That just might wake the parents up to do something about it. After all they would be the ones picking their kid up after school. What an inconvenience that would be for them. Maybe that would help wake the kid, and the parent up.

As far as teaching respect. That's a whole other story. It's hard to teach it when a lot of kids don't know what it is. I'm not sure how to "teach" it. I started when my kids were little. By the age of 2 they were saying please, and thank you. If they didn't I reminded them. So honestly I wouldn't know where to begin for kindergarten kids, and up. Fortunatly my kids learned how to share, or leave their siblings stuff alone. yet again though that was taught to them by the time they were 2. So that's a good question for other readers to answer....

How do you teach older kids to start respecting their elders??

Eric V.,

I didn't see any anger issues with you. You stated the truth! I guess the truth always hurts, or in this case insults the other individuls. Maybe Denise should work out some anger issues?
